The fire started in the kitchen around 4:23 pm Thursday at 63 Soundview Ave., said Deputy Fire Chief Patrick J. Tripodi.

The first engine company arrived within three minutes of the alarm and found a kitchen fire at the rear of the two-and-half-story wood frame home, Tripodi said.

All 12 residents had safely self-evacuated before firefighters arrived on scene.

Multiple hose lines were stretched and the fire was brought under control by 4:49 pm. Fire damage was limited to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the rest of the house, he said.

A total of five engines, one truck, the heavy rescue, and a command vehicle responded with 30 firefighters and officers. Stamford Police provided traffic control and Stamford EMS staged on the scene.

There were no reported injuries of civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.

There were working smoke detectors throughout the house that alerted all residents of the fire and to evacuate the building, Tripodi said.

The final fire company left the scene at 6:15 pm.
